Switching Cell Carriers to Sprint - More complicated than a mortgage.
Pretty much decided to go with Sprint to use direct connect, as mom doesn't see well enough to dial anything these days. If the phone chirp goes off, she can be 100% certain it is one of her kids calling. We used to only have cell service from verizon, but a microcell on a power pole is now in service about 200 feet away and sprint is the first user.
The flip phone with direct connect will double as a substitute for a medic alert device, as long as she keeps it on a lanyard.
Cell phone contracts, need a financial analyst for their contracts. Really hard to get a straight answer misc fees they are allowed to add on.
This is the AAA discount contract. https://promo.sprint.com/AAA/NewLanding
I am stuck with choosing sprint for the direct connect feature. No 3 rd party that I am aware of does this anymore. Boost used to years ago when they were owned by nextel/ sprint.
Just kind of venting.
Does anyone know of other old geezer discounts for Sprint ?

I'm not aware of any, but one question is: Will direct connect still be available when Sprint and T-Mobile merge?

Does Sprint have a pre-paid option like many of the other carriers? That would avoid the paperwork. Also, the prepaid plans are month to month with no contract.

If your mother has a smart phone, one other thing you can do is set up ring tones for the kids, basically all the kids can have an individual ring tone and anyone else would have a different tone.

I think they will. > 95% of sprint direct connect customers are business accounts, some with hundreds of devices limited to company only direct connect contacts. They can also be set up to transit up to 500 at one time for conference.
I wonder if Elon Musk has this so he can chew out hundreds of engineers and managers semi publicly and simultaneously at the push of a button
Sprint business accounts can also have these direct connect phones at low cost with the phone portion disabled. $15 mo per direct connect service only devices, but you have to have a minimal phone account that costs a lot for the actual telephone part.
I am looking at the Keyocerya dura force smartphone, mil spec, water immersion to 6.5 meters? pretty rugged on impact too. Brother has the Verizon version of it. ( no direct connect)
And a keyosera flip phone for mom. Lots of the sprint flip phone w/ direct connect cheap on E bay.
Sprint still has a Frankenstein blackberry style phone with keyboard available. Some crackberry addicts just cant let go . RIM doesn't manufacturer it.
Mom with a smart phone isn't going to happen. Pushing a button for instant contact with her kids is about the only way she will communicate these days. It seems to be a chore for her to even dial a landline phone.

Boost was the prepaid part of sprint . then during the last merge/ purge go around, sprint spun off boost. As far as I know but no direct connect these days. I tried checking the emsi ? number of my old boost phone w/ direct connect, it is the correct cdma band for sprint, but is not currently a comparable device with sprint for some reason. maybe it's locked.
