THC May Slow Down Alzheimer's
Marijuana may stave off Alzheimer's
New research shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may prevent the progression of the disease by preserving levels of an important neurotransmitter that allows the brain to function.

Yep, the mechanism of action is that it destroys your memory long before alzheimers has the chance to do it.  Of course you could always ... now what was I going to say? :
