"The Flynnstone Flip" surfer

Mods, I know this might fit better in the surfing thread, but I'm concerned that it wouldn't get the amount of attention that it deserves.

‘Flynnstone Flip’ makes cover of Transworld Surf – Honolulu, Hawaii Calendar of Events – Hawaii Entertainment and Nightlife – Honolulu Pulse

Quote:
North Shore surfer Flynn Novak’s aerial backflip has grabbed the March cover of Transworld Surf magazine.
Novak, 28, of Waialua, is believed to be the first surfer to pull off the outrageous move, which he has dubbed the “Flynnstone Flip.”
“When this sequence of Flynn Novak came in, it was pretty much decided on sight that this had to be a cover,” according to the magazine’s website. The magazine will be on newsstands Tuesday.
Novak said it took him six years of trial and error to land his first flip about four years ago. He’s been perfecting it ever since, completing about 20 while trashing dozens of boards in the process and escaping serious injury.
I now have a new goal in life!

By the way, unlike most surfing videos, this is worth listening to the narration. For a surfer, he's actually pretty articulate.

Stick with the video to the end-- where he follows the flip by sticking the landing, going off the lip, and then getting a "head dip"...

A 21st century hot-dogger!

Great video, thanks.
