I told the Mrs. a little white lie: “The Hosta Hideaway is about an hour away..”, “We don’t have anything planned”, “Come on it will be a nice drive” my RAV4 is reliable and I wanted some different Hosta varieties and Cool Hand Luke didnt go to work until 3 so he was there to watch the pooch. Just after the Mrs got in the car she googled it and I was outed: “a hundred an six miles!”. After 30 years she knows I cant be trusted. Construction, a bad choice to go by Lancaster, traffic around Harrisburg easily translated into over 2 hours. The last fifteen miles and I got “where is this place?”.
It was a family home in a nice development surrounded by thousands of potted and planted Hostas, 300 varieties, lots of sizes. Awesome, Knowledgeable, friendly people- $160 later, the car was loaded We were afraid to pick a sit down place because it was 90 something out and sunny. I didn’t want $160 of toasted plants. So I spoiled her with subway.
All but 2 of the Hostas are in a new 40ft by 4ft bed that runs along the woods live that Ive created over the last few days. My hands are blistered from the work. We’ve had steady 90s and I can only last about 3 or 4 hours before I either stop or faint. But I keep looking out at it think tenacity and patience conquer age limitations. I have another 40f to go and look forward to getting it done.
Do you have a project planned, completed or half done that you’d like to share?
