European model has it making landfall in FLA, but at a lesser speed. Still around 80mph.

I've been watching a show on HGTV called Renovation Island. One of the HGTV personalities and his family bought an abandoned resort on South Andros Island in the Bahamas. They bought it in 2018 and spent over a year and a huge amount of money to renovate it into an upscale boutique resort. It finally opened in late 2019, got excellent reviews and then had to close a few months ago because of the pandemic. They plan to reopen in October.
South Andros Island looks to be right in the cone of the storm. I hope this place survives. https://www.hgtv.com/shows/renovation-island

Isaias has arrived. Looks like the eye is over the water, and hopefully it will stay there.

Yeah, we're starting to get that intermittent pre-storm stuff. Torrential rain for 5-10 mins, then a 30 min break. repeat.

The outer bands are just starting to hit here, so still a way to go. Streets are bare, though, so it looks like everyone is snuggled up safe and sound at home, or sheltered somewhere.

Latest advisory said it was down to a tropical storm, a minor inconvenience for us Floridians . Needs to get up to Daytona to affect us, it may increase by then, I think Late tomorrow or Monday for us. But it also slowed down to 10mph.

Hey, at least it’s down to 70mph winds now, and the wind field doesn’t look nearly as large.

The path it’s on will impact all five properties we own. I’m glad it’s not a stronger storm!

Nada. Don’t you just hate it when you get all dressed up and ready for a night on the town and your date is a no-show.

When it comes to hurricanes as dates, being stood up is always a blessing.

Well, I would say you guys dodged a bullet! Very lucky!
Even the rain bands aren’t nearly as large or strong as what we had with Hanna, and it looks like most of the heavy rain will be offshore.
I’m very happy for you guys, plus me of course as central GA shouldn’t see anything at all. Knock on wood!

Yeah, looks like most of Florida dodged a bullet this time. But the Carolinas and northward could still get hit fairly hard, especially with heavy rains and flooding.

On a related matter for those of you who have garden plants, is there a general top wind speed where the plants are damaged?
I realize there are many types of plants. Not referring to palms.

Depends on the plant, of course. The shorter the better. Some trees have stronger roots than others. Also depends on whether the soil was already saturated. Newly planted trees are the most vulnerable.

I have lived on Sarasota Bay for almost 20 years and the only damage to foliage we had from a hurricane was one of the palms was hit by lighting during Irma . I hated that tree and was glad to see it gone .

Haha good to know. Just getting into gardening this year and planted many plants, which range from inches to 3 feet off the ground.
