Tv ads for geezers

I usually watch the local News at Noon, and a few minutes of the show preceding ('The Price is Right' on weekdays).

The ads are mainly for those entering decrepitude.

Today I saw ads for:
Incontinence pads
Laxatives
Diabetic supplies
Motorized scooters
Bathtub replacements

Downright depressing.

So much for sex and advertising! Well, I guess these products need to be sold, too.

It just seems weird that the demographics for daytime TV would be the old old. When I worked with disabled people who were unemployed, they would tell me about the ads they saw on daytime TV---what they saw were a lot of the proprietary schools advertising how people could have fabuluous careers in graphic design or the "medical field" (dental assistant, massage therapist), as well as ambulance chasing lawyers.

I would also think that there would be a lot of younger people watching----like stay at home moms.

But rest easy, Khan. I---and I'm pretty sure, you---don't need these products....YET!

Now I am reminded of an interesting TV show/ad combo: back in March I was having the car worked on and the TV in the waiting room was set on 'The Early Show'; a segment about 'women accepting their bodies/age/appearance' was sponsored by a Botox company.

Am I the only one who finds this oxymoronic? Or at least mutually ill-advised?

Maybe the industry figures they can sell one at cost and mark the other one way up. Better get it right...

I saw this ad in a recent issue of U.S. Naval Institute's PROCEEDINGS magazine, and it made me want to cancel my lifetime subscription.

Assuming I don't hit the mute button, I usually reword the commercial in HFWR-speak...

"You know, sometimes I have trouble taking a good, healthy dump. So I take Crap-A-Lot. You can $hit through a screen door from fifty paces..."

This is not a scientific study, but I do not recall ED drugs in that time segment.

Those are always on during the golf tournaments on the weekends. They alternate with the Flomax commercials.

I was helping my farmer nephew seed his crop earlier this week. I decided one night to drive the 2 hours home since I'd been away 4 nights and they have limited water to shower. He made a comment like 'you old people do it too?". I told him "after 30 years, you can, but you can't be bothered".
