I'm in the security camp. They say that anything that can be fixed with money ain't really all that bad. Having more money widens the scope of things that can I can fix.

I don't think integrity is quite the right word, Onward, but I understand your point.

Perhaps "authenticity" is closer to the mark?

Different words I guess for the same meaning

Options = Freedom

Independence = Possibilities
Possibilities = Flexibility

Independence, with security/options/flexibility close seconds.

I enjoy having money because it makes me less dependent on others... I guess I've just been one who never liked having to ask for things. Along with seeing my parents sacrifice for me growing up, my resolve was to never have to go to them (or others) in need of money.

Good answers, everyone.

I saw money as a means to buy my way out of things, particularly misery when it came to reducing and eventually eliminating the long and awful commute I had in my years of working by reducing and eventually eliminating my weekly hours worked.

Be sure to carry your Freedman Papers with you at all times. Ever see 12 Years a Slave? You could be back in a cube.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can make you awfully comfortable while you're being miserable

I suppose this is not surprising on an ER board but nobody listed social status.

Even when I was a child (many years before reading your money or your life) I was thinking in terms money = time I needed to work at a job.

Money, it has been said, "is the sixth sense that allows you to enjoy the other five".

Time

You have 80 odd years on this planet if you are very lucky. 20 of those years you can barely wipe your butt and 40 of those years you spend working to get enough money to enjoy the remaining 20.

Money is time.

Money is a means by which we accumulate purchasing power until there is some good or service needed or otherwise worth purchasing.
