The topic on taking out the debit card from the wallet in another post got me thinking about my HEAVY purse size wallet. Most women tend to have larger wallets - I only carry mine IF I have my purse on me. Trips to movies or dinners, I detest carrying a purse, so just hand DBF my ID & a credit card. But, here's my breakdown for fun:

I have a 5 pound sterling note. No other cash. Some receipts and credit cards and my health insurance card. And my TopSecret Department of Energy never-expires radiation safety training card. It appears that my driver's license is missing.

I'm always perplexed by the "no cash" folks. I very rarely use it (everything goes on credit cards paid in full), but the few times a year I do, it comes in very handy. Ie purchases under $10 at ethnic grocery stores that only take credit for purchases over $10. Last month, $32 for a new driver's license at DMV (only takes cash or money order).

Part of the perplexity is when the "no cash" folks need cash and ask me if they can borrow cash for cash only "needs". That perplexes the hell out of me.

As a "no cash" person, I never have a problem if folks want to give me cash. Maybe it's because I often take people to lunch and just pay for everybody ... with a credit card.

Also a no-cash wallet means that money moves from my kids' pockets into mine and not the other way 'round. For example, for me to watch their school games, they need to give me the cost of a ticket in cash earlier in the day.

At first I was going to comment that it'd be a lot of trouble to replace all that stuff in case of a robbery. But then I realized that you're too weighted down to run, so that wouldn't provoke the robber. And then you could seriously hurt the guy by throwing it at him. Even if he dodged it, by the time he picked it up and sorted through it (because he couldn't run with it either) the police would be on the scene.

But I have a habit of losing mine every few years or so, and I don't carry any more than I care to lose. I know from experience that I have spares or can fairly quickly replace these:

La Mariana Sailing Club membership card (Not to sail-- it's for the restaurant.)

Spare keys for cars & house (I lock my keys in cars a lot, too)

I'll be among the first to volunteer to have this converted to an RFID chip and implanted in one of my index fingers.
