PS. I took golf lessons through the local university last fall. I was totally shocked at how hard golf is-it looks so easy. Some of us are so naive!

I admit I have wondered about this issue for years.* Just never thought to post it as a discussion topic.
I think SteveR had the most practical explanation. But I really believe these guys could go out and BUY some pants that fit better.
SO and I often see "oldness" examples out there like this, and look at each other saying, "Shoot me if I ever start doing that."*
LOL at the MomJeans, another thing to add to the Not To Do List.* Currently it includes comfortable shoes that look comfortable orthopaedic, poofy sprayed hair, sweatshirts with pictures painted on them,* plucking then drawing back the eyebrows, inch-long chin and neck hairs...* *

These head and neck hairs can be pesky. I have a black one growing out the top of my ear. Hate it when I forget to do a weekly check and I notice it when I happen to glance in a mirror away from my tonsorial tools.

My right antitragus spawns a gray wire (hair) but only one. I rip it out once a month.
I'm in the midst of damage control, the lady at the condo front desk said I looked like Elaine's boss on Seinfeld. Please shoot me, help. Rhetorically, have I sunk that fast?

Come on...men will wear underwear until all thats left is the waistband, then use it as a headband for another decade or two. Pants?!? Forget it!

Dreamer: Good for you. Hope you continue your "golf education" and get as much pleasure as I have had over the 40 years or so that I've been playing.
I've been involved with athletics, both as a player and a coach most of my life, and you're right. (Golf aint easy)  A good description that I heard years ago was that "Nobody masters Golf, we all just have varying degrees of incompetence".
In any case, give it a chance, find your own level of incompetence, and you'll have a life-long friend.

I know this is really baaaad, but when I am riding in the car with my husband and see one of those wirey hairs growing out of his ears I reach up and ever so quickly grab it... and pull it out.
I have to be quick though so he doesn't lose control of the car.

JG: You ought to at least spend a few hours a week at a driving range, to get the rusty parts moving again.
When your wife quits working, she may just march you out of the house by gunpoint for a 4 hour (That's all it takes to play 18 holes)
"mental health" break. Then you'll be set.

Well now, I have spent some time at the driving range and enjoyed it
immensely. DW used to come too, although she doesn't like golf much.
Her first husband was a golf fanatic and she was a golf widow for the entire
marriage. I like to watch golf on TV, but if I leave the room chances
are the channel will be switched when I get back
As to getting out of the house, that's no problem. A fishing excursion
can be as short or long as you want to make it. Anywhere from a few
hours to a few weeks.

JG: O.K., I'll admit it, you are a baaaaaaaaaad example for the point I was trying to make.
Regarding your wife and being married to "golf fanatic", my wife never had that problem. I had precious little time to play golf when I was raising my family. (Or for fly-fishing either).
After I retired, and kids were off and running, I turned my attention to those two "waste of times", and the applause in the background is my wife's.
Hope you continue to have a "light heart, and heavy creel".

Well, I think this is a difference between husbands and wives. Your husband will tolerate this; he may even see it as love and caring. OTOH, I can just imagine what the average wife would say and do if her husband reached over and nipped a hair off her chinny-chin-chin.

At 14 years old, I asked why my grandma's hair was thinning. Haven't got my $10 Christmas check since. My financial situation would be vastly different had I kept my observations to myself.
On the other hand, I was roundly reminded last week by all female rels that my hair (barely in my opine) has begun to gray. Weight gain will not be discussed here. 
Trousers (pants, etc) will be worn at full mast when I pass 70. It's the least we men can do to fight back. Hitch em up. Smacks to the back of the head be dammed.
