Woohoo! Woohoo! Yippee! Happy!

The credit cards are paid off! The credit cards are paid off!

The EFT payment hit sometime late afternoon or evening on June 16, 2004. Yes I was calling every few hours.

As part of my obnoxious online celebration, my avatar will rotate between these pics every 12 minutes for the next day or so. (Due to browser and proxy caching you may not notice it change that often, though.)

Next month: The car gets paid off. Today is the major symbolic milestone for me, though. I've been looking forward to paying off the credit cards for 5 years.

EDIT Sept 30 2005: Updated image links for new server

WOO HOO!

I'd say "pop the champagne" but that'll just put ya back in debt!

I dug myself in a little in my early 20's and had to dig myself back out.

Feels pretty good huh?

You might want to visit Dave Ramsey's web site:
www.daveramsey.com

You are now qualified to go crazy on his syndicated radio program: shouting I'm Debt Free.

Dave Ramsey encourages people to destroy their credit cards in a creative manner. If so inclined, you could qualify for going crazy doing that as well.

Congratulations!

Go outside and scream at the top of you lungs: I'm Debt Free.

Have fun.

Congrats - and you're right. The avatars are really annoying.

Re: Woohoo! Woohoo! Yippee! Happy!

Thanks all! It feels great!

I'm not much of a shouter. I think rotating dancing avatars was enough public jubilation for me. *

I am now avatar-free again. *I had figured a day was enough, and the readership of this board probably isn't generally fond of animated avatars, anyway. (Except for Cut Throat )

The Laurel and Hardy dancing avatar seemed to match my mood the best. The dancing pill didn't appear to be in a good mood but I found him hypnotically fascinating, and besides he's dancing so he must be happy. The other two were just added for some variety...I wanted a line of dancers for my online celebration. This is what I came up with after a bit of searching Google for "dancing avatar".

Enough of that babbling. Here's some different babbling and a news item:

BigMoneyJim's Week In Review

Tuesday, June 15: BMJ's brother is fired from a potentially promising new job.
Wednesday, June 16: BMJ conquers the debt monster and there was much rejoicing.
Thursday, June 17: BMJ's sister discovers and announces she is pregnant! BMJ is going to be an uncle! (Does my family compete for attention or what?)

Just be glad I'm not searching Google for "dancing stork"! *

Hmmmm...

... last week TH announces his girlfriend's pregnancy.

This week BMJ's sister announces her pregnancy.

Coincidence? Could BMJ's sister be...? Naaah.

Think I need another cup of coffee.

Hey - when a potential ER pays off the CC's - let's all celebrate - apparently we're a small enough group - that we need to bolster our ranks as much as possible.

BTY - I liked the 'laural and hardy' best of them all.

CONGRATES!
