I wonder if this kind of thing is not some odd compulsion. I mean an affair has a clear payoff, though it may have problems too.

But sending strangers pictures or your Willy? I mean most junior high kids don't even think of doing that, if you do think of it you are likely sick.

I dunno. The internet has released all kinds of fetishes and habits. Gambling and porno are the leading industries. But sexting and other habits just seem to be coming into their own.

I have a divorced friend who has met women on Plenty of Fish. And one was offended to find him still active after they had dated. I guess she thought they were going steady...

Dunno the details of the situation...but better for her that she figured out that he's still 'playing the field' before she got too involved with him.

Apparently this saying is no longer true, or at least not true in the US, or in this instance.

Who is on house arrest awaiting trial?

My question was: "How did she know?"

The answer was that her single daughter alerted her to it!

And they did "go steady" for 3 years.

Yikes! His "going steady" meant it was OK to for him to "play the field"? Sounds like she may have wasted 3 years of her life.

She did not view it that way. She loved him but he works as a farmer, 5 hours drive away from her home. It was the travel toll that finally did them in.

I like them both and I can understand why each of them made that decision. For her it was her work and proximity to her family. For him, it was his lifelong dream to run a vineyard and winery.

Your friend should have broken up with his steady and told her he wanted to see other people. Three years of companionship deserves this consideration. She is well rid of him.

And Huma should get an annulment. This guy is an oddball and has disgraced his office. He should do the honorable thing and resign. But I don't think he would know the honorable course of action from a hole in the ground. And who are all these women sexting and talking dirty to him (for free yet!)? Don't they have anything better to do with their time? Aren't they afraid some maniac might track them down somehow? Obviously not.

My dear departed Mother once observed that people who talk sex, or about the sexual activities of others, aren't busy enough. This comment was made about 40 years ago. Nothing much, but the medium, has changed.

The NYT article I was reading this morning led to reading some of the stuff on biggovernment.com and radar.com Weiner Sexting Partner Reveals Her Identity, Says:

One gal was a Las Vegas casino worker, another was a gal who has a short 'rap sheet', etc.

I think they may be women who like the connection with someone they perceive as being in a powerful position. Not unlike Monica Lewinsky.

The person who seems to have more to lose is Mr. Wiener: he's a member of Congress and had his sights set on (and seemed to be the party favorite for) Mayor of NYC. Plus, he just recently married.

Ah, I didn't know that they knew who he was. It makes him sound even crazier and his correspondents less so....there is the possibility of their 15 minutes of fame and maybe even a little remuneration (if one is not averse to this sort of seamy celebrity). Maybe they will get a spread in a magazine like some of Tiger's girls.

I don't think men, in particular, are in a position to understand how threatened a woman can feel when a man forces himself upon her. I would advise my daughter to comply and live another day. In that position she is not consenting but surviving.

So, how many times did he date her daughter before she confessed to Mom?

Evidently the reaction in France, was much more sympathetic to Strauss-Khan. They were more inclined to take his word for it than a lowly maid, while in the US the reaction was different. Still 30+ years ago. I am sure the SOB would have been released.
