I noticed this year the Downloadable TeuboTax requires a license key. Makes me wonder if this key is a single MAC address bound key or if it can be run across multiple pcs with the same key.
You can install the software on 5 different computers.

It also says you can make 5 Federal e-files, so I'm assuming you can file five different returns with one license?

I wonder if that also means you can download 5 different states if on 5 different computers?

On the first part, yes... I efile 5 returns each year. You can prepare more and print and file... just limited to 5 electronic filing.

You only get one state and state efile is an additional fee.

Have not seen it yet.
Was thinking about calling Fido next week about it.

Every year it's a mystery...when/if it will be offered, and to whom.

2019 tax software

Costco will have $10 off TurboTax Deluxe from Jan 2-26, making Fed $29.99 and Fed + State $39.99. Higher versions will be $15 off.

Amazon usually matches Costco during their sale.

Like Clockwork

Like clockwork , after Christmas, the price of Turbotax Deluxe + State dropped again on Amazon.

I just ordered a copy for $39.88 before added sales tax. I got the disc version to install on my PC.

If you don't mind getting it from one of the cheaper places (you are essentially just buying a license number anyway), it's $29.99 at TurboTaxInsider (https://www.turbotaxinsider.net/intu...caAlePEALw_wcB).

That page has links for the Win and Mac installers. You buy the license number for one and it should (I hope) work for the other, as long as you install on less than 6 computers.

No free TT from Fido so far this year. However I'm pleased to report i don't need it! I've ordered the 1040, schedule B and the HSA from the IRS via snail mail. Thanks to huge tIRA and Roth space I was finally able to place all investments out of the way. Now it's only cash in taxable. Tax filing is now a 15 minute chore with my only cost being an envelope and a couple stamps. Simplicity.

Is there any incremental value associated with Turbo Tax Premier vs. Deluxe to warrant the $25 difference in cost? A few years ago they took Schedule D out of Deluxe, but that was added back.

Just wanted to check before I made a purchase.

AFAIK the main difference is that Premier includes most everything in the interview (hand holding) process, while Deluxe can make you root around a bit in the forms themselves. Not a huge difference and may be irrelevant in most cases.

Anyway, you can always get the Deluxe and upgrade later to Premier if you feel it necessary to do so.

Fidelity PCG confirmed they will be providing TurboTax Premier for free to qualified clients after January 1, but they couldn't be more specific on the date. The offer will appear in the usual place, in Accounts Portfolio Summary.

And if you need Quicken Deluxe, adding a 14 month downloadable subscription for $27.50 to the TurboTax will take an additional $20 off the bundle. So I was able to get another 14 months of Quicken and TT Deluxe and State for $47.38
