That is a nice gesture of the places. Even though I'm a veteran I would not accept a free meal from them or any other place. Just a personal preference.

Prefer to leave the freebies to the the active duty folks, or the veterans who really need it. There are plenty of those.

Another nice gesture.

On today's Ellen show Taylor Swift told the following anecdote about Stevie Wonder. (It happens right at the 2 minute mark for those that need to skip ahead -- she is a nice interview, however.)

Connie, thanks for posting that--those are very nice gestures by Applebee's and Golden Corral. DH would definitely take advantage of it (we don't have many active duty personnel in this area, so he wouldn't be taking baby back ribs from their mouths) if we have time.

NML, now I'm going to have to go look up that poster to see when it's from! I'll see if DH recognized the girl in it from way back when.

ETA--looks like the poster is from the 40s, so before DH's time. Whew.
