Check your snow chains. I bought some for my expedition in 1999. When I sold it last year, I checked the unopened sack of chains to find only one chain in it.

At least the guns, gold and freeze dried food made a come-back...and wow also in 1999!

Snow chains? I knew you could shovel it, plow it and ski on it, but I had no idea you could make chains out of it...

never more than 20 -30 on me at any one time. Up to 200 in the house max (when I run out I withdraw 200 from an atm to minimize the number of withdrawals).

Last week in December 1999 I got $500 cash just in case there were Y2K issues with ATM's even though I was pretty confident there wouldn't be any issues.

The routine around my house when hurricanes are approaching is to fill up all vehicles with fuel days in advance, go to bank and withdraw cash ~300 and then get canned food, candles, matches etc. We lived out of my freezer during Katrina. We had shrimp, fish, pizza, figs, etc for seven days cooked over a propane stove. Didn't evacuate but took in SIL and DD's.
(found out they love shrimp!)
P.S.....If I was evacuating I would get more cash.
