Notified those who need to know that I will be retiring May 1st. It was nerve racking getting it done, but now that I am past it, I feel much, much better. I did leave the door open for some part-time projects (1-2 days a week), but that is it.

Congratulations to you! I felt like I was going to be ill the day I turned it in, but have been mostly better since. Ready to be done!

It's harder than I thought. I'm not very emotional (usually) and I can't seem to keep an even keel lately. My assistant is freaking out about the transition, and I'm having a hard time being patient with that. Last week I had a fantastic day at work and wondered why I was doing this. Not to worry though, the next day was hideous...

Planning a lengthy vacation this summer. Cause I don't have to be back at work. We just have to be home in time for the kids first day of school [emoji16]

Yeah, I'm finding that I am out of *'s to give. At times, I feel somewhat bipolar. Sometimes I find that I just don't care and zone out of the meeting, other times, my patience runs out and I get argumentative. It is definitely time to step away.

Progress.... I haven't turned anything in "official" other than an email to my boss and his boss back in November '19, but my job just hit the board (internal and external) yesterday afternoon! Feels weird reading a job description for the position I hold, but I'm diggin' it.

And yes, I struggle daily with the broken give-a-****. Luckily, I still care about the things that matter - it's all the stupid human tricks we play that make me want to be gone RIGHT NOW.

It's encouraging to see that my 1 years' notice is being taken seriously.

It actually feels like any other Friday...maybe I might feel something in a week or two but until then I'll just treat it as a regular weekend.

My office is situation is unpleasant at the moment. Both my assistant and my successor are freaking out about the transition which begins in 33 days. I'm much better at action than waiting and keeping everyone calm which is what I'm doing now. But it's almost over. [emoji16]

The retiring in 2020 group that is. The wife(56) and I(51) have decided to call it quits on 12/01/2020. I plan on using a large amount of accumulated time off prior to departing. It is nice to have a date and see the finish line in sight.

I didn't exactly do OMY, but I had an earliest possible retirement date and a latest possible. Earliest possible was in 2018 I think and I originally followed that thread and then announced I would be retiring 2020 instead.

Eavesdropping that thread was interesting, but I was so jealous! It was part of "my never do OMY therapy."

I am so caught in the now at work that I can hardly see past the circumstances. Friends and coworkers cannot understand why I am not making big plans beyond last days of work. I am too bogged down to make significant plans beyond a few minor summer trips. After I retire and get past the stench of work then I'll be able to think clearly about our future. I retire late May 2020

I have no interest in the project any more and Admin changes to project pay structure cut the payment by 50%. Not cool. Not that I need the $$, but it speaks to the culture of Admin saving a buck wherever they can get away with it.

Wait, they cut your pay after you agreed to do it? Can you re negotiate this? I don't think I d stay. I'm sure your Co workers would get it. They wouldn't work for half salary either.

I had 'the talk' with my manager and 1 up boss on Monday. It was a great feeling to finally unveil my timing to them. My manager (very stoic) almost cried... he had a tough time keeping it together as he said he was very happy for me but really sad to see me go. Similar sentiments from the 1-up boss who said he wouldn't be able to replace me when it comes to experience, and leadership. Nice compliments, but boy I feel better with everything completely transparent and out there for everyone to know now. Despite my hints and intimations, it was still a surprise for many.

Now on to April 3rd. 29 more work days remaining!

"Worked" Friday morning till I got confirmation of house being sold, then headed west to Springs. Will be on PTO till March 6 when I have to go back for my last day and the exit interview.
