Countrywide CD 4.20%

I saw an ad in our local paper where Countrywide is advertising a CD for 4.20% APY on $10K minimum. Their website, https://bank.countrywide.com/, calls it an internet rate, but the print ad states that we can stop by the branch. Hopefully it's okay that I post here since CD's seems safer for the moment (plus I have an account that's up in two weeks, so I'm interested and think others might be).

I haven't been here for about a week, so I have some catching up to do.

Looks like an attractive rate compared to .

I wonder why Countrywide is being so competitive with the interest rate.

Isn't Bank of America acquiring Countrywide?

Good rate and that is for a 1 year CD ($10K Minimum); they also have a MM rate of 4.05% but that could fluctuate.

BTW for those that can, Navy Federal Credit Union has a 5% APY 7 Year CD ($20K) minimum. Fair rate to start a CD Ladder at the pretty far out rung.

Lets see PFCU HELOC or HE (Interest Onely) put in NFCU could be a bit of a profit, or at worse, a wash and tax deductible Loan Interest (where is Excel).
