DH?

Okay...I just joined and see the acronym DH all over the place, which seems to mean significant other/wife/husband, but I can't figure out what it really stands for! Someone please help.... Wait...is it Desperate Housewife? That would be really funny...

It's one of those board oddities: dear... husband, wife, daughter, son = DH, DW, DD, DS, etc.

Got me too when I first joined.

Keopele, here's a link to your very own secret decoder ring:

http://www.early-retirement.org/foru...rum-19058.html

After you pass the test on acronyms, we'll take you through the initiation ceremony (don't ask!) and teach you the secret handshake.

Actually DH or DW is not unique to this board. I've seen it on many others - which just goes to show you I spend way too much time on the internet.

Ahh...should have used the handy "search forum" feature....shows how little time I've been active in forums. I plan on being active here for about the next 19 years, so I'll learn all of the acronyms, rules and handshakes.. :-)

Keopele,

I had the same question when I first joined the board. I really did not get a satisfactory answer. Now I just assume people use it as a habit, and the D really has no meaning at all.

For what it's worth, here's the thread:

And as I always point out, the DH can mean other things depending on the circumstances.
