That's the other thing I never understood about him. He's always going on about how ETFs are a veritable quantum leap beyond regular "old fashioned" mutual funds.
Personally, I see almost no difference. For example I own VTSAX and VTI. VTSAX in my Vanguard account and VTI in a Fidelity IRA. For me it's the same thing.
And while I understand there are minor differences for certain specific purposes (e.g. MF are cheaper for monthly investing, ETF can trade intraday, etc.), but none of these seems to be why Edelman is so fixated on ETFs. I just don't get it.
