Financial Institution Information Site

Posters occasionally ask where they can find information on the safety/solvency of a financial institution before buying a CD or opening an account. Just came across this site for the "National Infomation Center - Federal Reserve System". It can be searched by insititution name for information on US Banks, Thrifts and Credit Unions.
