Apparently, not enough to remove all stress. Given how bond funds have reacted the past 15 or so months, something I haven't seen historically the past several decades, our risk aversion has pinned us in a corner.

Sort of Hit my lower target number last year (last quarter of 2021), now down $100K. Was planning to retire this year. But will work 1 more year to replenish the paper lost So, mid-2023 and I'm done.

But even now, Firecalc tells me I'm 100% successful for a 40 year retirement with lump sum expenses for new cars and home repair in the future.

After years at Megacorp, I essentially created my own assignment (convincing Megacorp that they needed that position and I was the person to fill that slot.) With new mgmt., it was suddenly decided that anyone could fill that slot and I could go back to doing what I started doing (glorified technician). I said "I'm outta here - bye!" YMMV
