Particularly discomfiting if this is the first time through the wringer.

Only the Big Guy up above knows for sure. Best to spend as if it is going to go on forever and be pleasantly surprised when it does not.

retiringat50 - this is 1 of 2 recent posts you have made where I sense alot of anxiety - which is only natural given your situation. I wonder though do you have a plan for how you will manage a bear market of 1, 3, 5 or x years?
