How Many Checking Acounts do you have.
In another thread OAG posted a pdf about money laundering. One of the flags was multiple bank accounts for no apparent reasons. So it started me thinking about how many checking accounts people have. We have two, both joint. Not sure we need two, but the ATMs make it handy.

Two checking--one is also our brokerage acct with Charles Schwab. Our primary is with BofA for ATM convenience. Came in real handy when we bought a car the other weekend and I'd forgotten to take out the cash, since there is a limit of $500 per day on the ATM card at BofA. The Schwab card had no such limit, whew!

We have one joint, my wife has one at a credit union and I have one used for direct transfers.

Two at the moment--waiting for a check to clear before closing one of them, at Chase, now charging us a fee since it's a "Chase at Work" account and no more work direct deposits (yay!). The other, the one we'll keep, is a nice little local bank three blocks from our house. Presume all our money is clean as a whistle at both--no need to launder!

This one is awesome, FD--a 1984 Mercedes 300D Turbo diesel that we plan to run (eventually) as a grease car. Around 270,000 miles on it, older couple bought it new back when, then 6 months ago sold it to friend of grandson who needed to raise some cash since he's a mortgage broker. Paid $2,700 for it.
Nice condition, ran fine all the way home five hours. It is the most stylish of our hoopty collection at this point.

Too many.
Credit union-- one for me, one for spouse, daughter has her own. Our HELOC, my money market, and spouse's money market.
Joint Fidelity account. My Fidelity account and spouse's Fidelity account.
We could do just fine on the his & hers credit-union checking accounts and the joint Fidelity account. All the other checkbooks were sent to us without our request. I write maybe two dozen checks a year, spouse even fewer.
And let's not forget those extra-convenient his & hers debit cards for the HELOC!

Trick question? Two brokerage accounts and two savings accounts can be transfered into checking. I put 4 actual accounts with paper checks which includes checks tied to a brokerage fund--comes in handy when suddenly out of town with unexpected expenses. Can use credit card advances for that but prefer not to incur their fees.
Okay, you got me, one of the accounts offered a free iPod upon clearing the first check. La La La.

I had to go count them since I only "use" one. Four regular checking accounts and a HELOC checking account. I do move money on-line between about 5 different facilities around payday (which now comes about 5 times a month). We also have three direct deposits going to two different facilities. Reading that pdf from OCC I am just waiting for the Feds to arrive with the cuffs.

Three, but only one in regular use.

Total of 3. I have two and DW has one -- all three are individual. DW's and my main account are linked to allow online transfers both ways. All are at a credit union.

One is my own
one is for IRAs and mortgages (the expenses which go away in retirement)
one is for all other expenses (the expenses I need to track for retirement)
My wife also has one in her own name too.

My Goodness! I am just so not worried about the government investigating me for money laundering! I don't care how many checking accounts I have!

Hmmm... sounds pretty suspicious coming from someone who has no fixed address, uses mail drops, and spends a lot of time with surveillance photography equipment...

Only have one....only need one. I usually write less than 3 paper checks per year. This year has been the same.....1 to for license tag renewal (Sec. of State doesn't accept plastic.....those morons ), and 2 to my favorite local hobby shop (where I almost always pay cash....unless I've forgotten to go get the cash ).
