Huge tax bill

I owe 14 grand. Six and a half to the Feds and seven and a half to CA.

I wish I owed $14K. That would mean my income was much higher than it has ever been.

I just did the taxes for a retired 65+ yo friend, she withdrew extra from her IRA for a trip and ended up with social security being taxed at a much higher rate. I have been telling her to let her IRA ride and spend from her investment account. It still doesn't compute for her.

Then you would have really appreciated when we paid low forties but at least we were able to put ~180k into retirement and taxable accounts in each of those years
