Keeping emergency cash at home

If the ATMs run out of money which they do in my area in Florida before the hurricane I put $$ in my bank safety deposit box as an added measure if I have to withdraw cash. The line to access the safety deposit box is shorter than the teller line or drive thru.

Could you buy a small generator to run that well and a few other things?

I could but don't need really to...I live in a city and just happened to be on one of the very few streets remaining that are serviced by wells. One of my friends lives just a block away and is connected to municipal water and my GF lives 5 minutes away.
