M*'s Sue Stevens: "How Two New Tax Laws Will Affect Your Bottom Line"

"Improving Your Retirement"

The "The Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005" that was passed this May has a few more features than I realized: higher AMT income triggers, changes to cap gains & dividends tax brackets, Roth IRA conversions, the kiddie tax, 529 withdrawals, charitable donations, IRA contributions from tax funds, rolling a 401(k) directly over to a Roth (!), and a host of 401(k)/pension changes.

"This is the most comprehensive pension reform we've seen in over 30 years. You can bet we'll be writing a lot more about these changes as we have a chance to think through all the financial-planning ramifications."

"Sue Stevens, CPA, CFP, MBA, and CFA Charterholder"

Translation: I spent too much time studying for and taking pointless tests.

Well, you have the RIGHT TWO in your chosen profession.............add the other two and you would be confused............

I know a few CPA's that got their CFP.......because they saw how much money the fee-based CFP's they did taxes for made..........and they wanted in...........

Seems to me there would be a built-in conflict of interest...........

In fall 2007, I test for my CFP...................
