On Friday I will dare say we hit the magic number !!!!

Today I casted off and joined the FIRED class of 2012 and DW is going to join me June of 2013. Leaving high stress and high travel mega corp on Octoberv 1, 2012 as I resigned today by giving my two weeks notice. It was amazing as I wrote the resignation letter today I started to feel better. After letting them know I felt even better.

For the next few months WE will prepare for our three month sailing trip in the Great Lakes next summer and from there who knows. We will see how the wind of life blows and go with the wind.

Again thanks all for the posts as we have learned much about many thing here on the forum. I look forward to having more time to contribute any wisdom I may or may not have!!

You have more guts than I do, so congratulations.

I would not retire at a multi-year high in my investments. I prefer to retire when the market is at a 2-year low and the magic number is still intact.

On a more serious note - I assume you've solved the HI problem by depending on COBRA until the exchanges kick in? If I may be so bold as to ask, what SWR and time horizon are you assuming?

Thanks for the post. On the HI issue DW will have us covered thru June of 2013 thru her employment then Cobra for 18 months if needed. Hopefully by then new exchanges if needed. My health is improving so if we can get Private HCI we will. On the SWR year one 2013 will be 2% then for ten years will be 4% to 5% then balance of 30 years if we live that long will be approx 3%.
