More than the DoR website said

In January I thought to check the Department of Revenue website for unclaimed property of my mom's, who died in 2022. The site showed a couple refunds from United Healthcare totalling $91.86. I figured what the heck, might as well try to claim it, filled out a claim form, and uploaded the necessary documents. There was a little under my dad's name too, but I didn't have the documents required to claim it. No biggie.

Well, today I received a check from the DoR for $540.99! No explanation of where it all came from, but I'm not complaining.

Nice! I successfully helped my wife recover funds from a dormant CA Wells Fargo account, and some funds from my deceased mom. I was unable to get the $ for a birthday cashier's check she had made out to me as I didn't have any documentation (although the recipient name matched and I'm her only son).
