Outsourcing. To the US?!?

Looks like the tide is starting to turn.

Weak dollar adds twist to 'Made in America' - MSN Money

I was wondering how long before the US started looking more attractive to foreign companies. The article itself hints that the attractiveness of cheap forex may be overstated. However, with the USD being cheap for foreign corps, paying in cheap USD for labor and material inputs certainly seems attractive.

If the USD keeps getting cheaper, I'd expect increased tourist dollars and expat real estate dollars as well (retire to America on the cheap anyone?).

What goes around ...

I always thought that as living standards (and wages) increased in places like India, and pollution and living conditions worsened, people would live in the US (affordable due to a low $ value) and work for outsourcers - effectively, telecommuting to India/China.

But looks like the jobs may be moving back here. Hopefully, they'll pay enough for us to afford to buy the products!
