Ferco, one thing jumped out at me - that your $500,000 will double in 8-9 years. That would require a return of 8-9% (rule of 72). Maybe, but I wouldn't bank on it. If you're planning to pull $48,000/year out of that starting in 8 years, you may encounter problems if you're starting with $700K or $800K instead of a million. *Also, you didn't say whether you will need $48,000 in
today's dollars in 8-9 years. If that's the case, I think you'll encounter difficulties.
