Please review my FIRE plan

Hi all,

I haven't posted here in a while, and I probably won't post much.

But I am coming up on FIRE, and I respect your opinions, so I am posting to ask for anyone who would like to to review my FIRE plan.

The document is at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByT...ew?usp=sharing

The middle column is the most important - it lists what I plan to do and when. The "when" is either a day of the year (for annual things), a year (for one time things far in the future), or a date relative to my target fire date of 19 February 2016. Stuff in red text is stuff I still need to figure out, and stuff that is crossed out is already done.

I would especially appreciate anything that I may have missed, or may be mistaken on, or haven't figured out yet.

For those of you who remember me and are interested, I'm doing fine and looking forward to ER. Kids are happy, healthy, safe, and working on becoming self-sufficient. Cat is healthy and spoiled.

Thanks and regards,

2Cor521

Welcome back. I remember you and wondered where you'd gone. IIRC you started the class of 2016 thread.

I have a quick glance at the list. It has a lot of details. I think what you have is fine. One note- you list scheduling your exit interview... My experience is that HR contacts you... Not the other way around. But each megacorp is different.

What a great list. Can't think of anything you've missed. I got some good ideas from it. Favorite tip:

I like this plan, focuses on non-financial topics that are important.

Thanks for sharing.

Not sure if any applies:

- consider refinancing mortgage
- consider term life insurance amounts since you have kids
- consider taking advantage of any employer partner discount programs (my employer offers discounted movie tickets, so I would buy a handful for future use, also purchased discounted Microsoft software for home use)
- consider stocking up on employer stationary goods (LoL) just kidding

Thanks all for the replies.

@rodi, thanks for remembering me! I started the Class of 2014 thread here. I reached basic FI in July 2013 but the job was good and I wanted more padding. The job started turning south about 18 months ago and got even worse about six months ago, so I'm going to take a sabbatical starting in November and (probably) RE in February. You're right about the exit interview probably - I think what I will do is just ping my HR representative and let her know I've resigned, and then let her schedule it with me if/when she wants.

@inky/REWahoo - not sure where I picked that tip up but I'm in favor of safety and cheapness. If I'm still around these boards in 2019 I'll try to remember to report back.

@Aiming_4_55 - Thanks for the suggestions. No mortgage in my case, and no life insurance needed - I am single and my youngest is almost 14; if I croak early my retirement funds are sufficient to finish launching my kids. They do have a company store with discounted movie tickets to the premium theater, but I figure in FI I can either use the library, or RedBox, or the cheap theaters. I'm not picky.

@Cobra9777 - I assume you mean the "Where the H*ll is Matt?" YouTube. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I want my parting words to my colleagues to be positive and encouraging rather than vindictive/sour/arrogant. Glad you liked it.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback...more opinions and comments welcome - I want to do all the due diligence on my plan that I can.
