Just for fun, how low will the current decline go before reaching the bottom. On my part, just a wild guess of course (I am usually wrong on my projections), but if the low interest rate environment that supported high multiples is coming to an end it means the high multiples will come to an end as well.

Edit: I meant >50% of course, don't know how to fix it.

It's kind of fun watching the financial porn channels and my opinion is, they are as clueless as everyone else. Just to throw out some other variables I didn't hear mentioned much; new fed chair, a government that can't fund itself for more than a week at a time, divided and unstable political arena, an over bought market, profit taking en mass. But who knows, dilly, dilly ?

The results of the poll are public.

Watching the financial pundits today is like watching the football pundits yesterday trying to tell us if the touchdown catch was Ok or not.

While my crystal ball is just as cloudy as the next guy's, I picked 20% so no changes for me.

I meant to make it private, I guess I forgot to check that box. Maybe a moderator can fix it. I am assuming that in a public poll, anyone can see how you voted, and in a private one they cannot? Is that correct?

Unable to see any polls on mobile device but my vote is yawn if that is an option.

If you go to the menu at the top right of the screen to the right of the thread title, you can select to copy the URL... Then paste it into a browser on your phone. At least that's how it works for Android.

I just voted, from my phone, while waiting for my son's doctor appt.

I'd vote for 15%, as 20% is too severe.

I voted 20%.

Will be interesting within a week or two to see if there is a bounce.

If not, then ... gulp :(.

Are you really voting what you think will happen, or what you WISH will happen? :)

Where is the option for "probably no more than any historical bear market, but really who gives a ****?" I'd vote for that. LOL

(NOTE: Seriously? A curse word filter? What the holy hell? Is this kindergarten?)

I have no idea how low. But as others said when it was going up, the opposite.

In my humble macro-econ 101 mindset, the market multiples were out of whack. I do know that my stop losses executed locking in my gains, for what it's worth.

It doesn't block certain British swear words though admittedly, the ones I tried are considered pretty mild by today's standards :D

My just for fun guesstimate is that sometime in the next three years, the Dow will briefly go below 14,000. It may hit new highs before that.

Yeah. That takes me right back to here!

Used to be able to hit web view and vote from there, but it takes me here.

I'm not walking to 7615' to vote.

But I'll guess 15%.

Market is just getting the late joining players out and economic strength will keep from any drastic losses. All of us that have been in for long haul are not the ones panicking and selling out. Just like any bubble, the late to the party are the losers.

I think it could be more than 10% but less than 20%, so I'll go with the 15% avg. Although I voted 10% since 20% is too much.

Just look at the recovery after the mid-day 1500 point drop, it came back over 300 points in the end of today.

I'm guessing 20%. Complete WAG.
The bigger question is will it be down a few weeks or a few years?
