Portfolio case study

This is a pretty straight forward case study but there are 2 items listed that I noticed and I was wondering if this group would handle differently.
The first is the fact that Howard's cash value of his LI policy is counted as part of his FI allocation. I also have an old LI policy and do the same thing that Howard does as it is more a FI asset to me than it is a LI asset at this point. Does anyone else include th CV of their LI policy like this?
The second item is Thelma's future inheritance. I contend that one should not count an inheritance until the assset is actually in your name or in your checking account and the check has cleared the bank. There are too many uncontrollable issues that can change the outcome. I also find it distasteful to count grandma's bonds as mine until grandma is firmly situated in her final resting place.
Any other ideas?
