You still buy books and coffee? My books nowadays either come from the public library or are gifted to me. If I have to buy the books I read, I would have to build more bookshelves.
And I now drink only tea, although whenever I go to Sprouts, always have a tiny cup of their sample coffee.

I think of the odds this way: What are the odds that you will end up losing 100% of the money you spent on the lottery tickets? Very nearly 100%. That's why I don't play.

No, and none.
I mean really, the chances of winning are insanely low.
The chances of losing the cost of the powerball ticket are 100% if I buy one.
I used to gamble, rarely, on the cheapest available slot machines at local casinos. Haven't gone for about 11 years, since our favorite casino was demolished by Katrina; nothing was left, and it was never re-built. Same with my second favorite casino although I think it was rebuilt, but it doesn't look the same. When gambling on slot machines, I did it for the entertainment value alone. It's fun, and I limited myself to $20, sometimes $5. If I won, that was just extra, like frosting on a cake.

It's now a $900 Million Jackpot ($800m was yesterday). Got 3 tickets yesterday that was machine generated, and then 3 today as I picked my own numbers. But I bet more on the local lottery that has almost $500,000 on the pot today - odds are 1: 575,000. Powerball has 1 in 294 million. It has to be your karma and destiny to hit those odds. Dream on

There is a span of nine years, I want you to guess the correct year. In that year, I want you to guess the correct month. In that month, I want you to guess the correct day. In that day, I want you to guess the correct hour, In that hour, i want you to guess the correct minute, In that minute, I want you to guess the correct second.
Your odds are mathematically better at guessing the correct second in a 9-year span, than the powerball numbers.

I bought 5 Powerball tickets this morning along with 5 tickets for the state game ($5million +).
There could be several jackpot winners for PB tonight with this much frenzy over the high amount. Watch for the long lines of people wanting to buy tickets later today as the drawing time approaches which gives the news folks something to talk about.
