I'll take housing collapse + oil and gas shortage for a thousand, Alex.

You forgot war.

I was wondering if I was being a little too subtle...

... am I the only one who still remembers the punchline to that joke?

No you are not - except it is not a joke, it is far more serious than that.

no doubt some will call "foul" ... but i'm stickin' with my typical +/- 10%

Sorry, this comes up a lot in the submarine force.

From the Wikipedia entry: "According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, researchers from a pan-dimensional, hyper-intelligent race of beings constructed the second greatest computer in all of time and space, Deep Thought, to calculate the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. After seven and a half million years of pondering the question, Deep Thought provides the answer: 42."

That is the line I am thinking..... but I would not call it a joke... it is THE ANSWER TO THE UNIVERSE!!!!

next year, any one year---dunno
overall, positive

No, I got it.

Ok, here is an updated summary (after removing Nords' fake prediction):

Number of predictions: 23
Highest prediction: +15% (mmg2681)
Lowest prediction: -29% (Running Man)
Average: +4.70%

It seems that as a group, we are a bit more pessimistic than Dr. Siegel:

http://finance.yahoo.com/columnist/article/futureinvest/18829

"Markets here and overseas are still reasonably valued and corporate earnings should continue to move upward. Hence I believe 2007 will be another good year for stocks, although returns will not be as high as 2006. U.S. stocks should return about 8%, with foreign stocks doing perhaps a little better."

What I like to see is the predictions made previously by the
so called experts.
