Simple SS First Year Question

Wife started SS in April; first payment in May. Will 1099 show eight months of payment (actually received) or nine months?

If I recall correctly, it shows the money as of the date it is actually received. So 8 months your wife.

Edit to add: I went back and checked my records. My first Form SSA-1099 showed only the checks (direct deposits) actually received that first year.
