Browsing business week today, I came across an article telling the stories of small business owners whose businesses are in jeopardy because of their inability to obtain necessary lines of credit. These are profitable businesses whose sales are threatened or crimped because of the freeze. It got me thinking. I've got money sitting in vanguard treasury money market fund earning very little in interest. Loaning to one of these small businesses seem like a good idea...a win win on both sides....they get the credit they need while I earn some interest on my money.
Anyone know of any vehicle whereby one could engage in providing a line of credit to a small business....? Maybe just a bad sunday night idea i'm having as i note the dow futures are down again for tomorrow.
