I'm one of the "lucky"
ones who got my tax info hacked a few years back. As a result, now each year before filing my taxes, get an IRS Identity PIN mailed to me from the IRS. As, I need that PIN to prove I am who I claim to be for filing.
Last year, the letter containing the PIN arrived around mid Jan. For this year, as of now, still no PIN.
There is a process to retrieve the PIN online if lost or never received in the mail.
But think I'll just cross my fingers more and wait for the snail mail for a few weeks before going that route. Still too early for me to actually start tax filing anyhow. It's not even St. Patrick's day yet
