answer my question..........How many of you use the services of a CFP.........
By the answers I can see that many trust the advice of Vanguard Services.
Saturday I did send an email inquireing about their Financial Personal Service.
I'd have wanted to get together with a professional councelor to inquire about my
personal situation,in today's reply I have been inform that an application will
be send and after filling it out I'll be able to discuss my situation over the phone
to review my position. Those of you that took advantage of the offer to invest a chunk
of money to get a free evaluation(or service)How satisfied are you all?
In the area I live there are not branches of the Vanguard firm to visit.
Thanks once again!roger.

I think this question has been beaten to death, but you all know that I don't mind answering a question more than once :).

When I was interviewing CFP types, not only did I think
I knew more than they did (or could get the answers elsewhere), I became positively uncomfortable talking
to them. I have a regular broker, but of course there
is very little activity in my account. When I do need
to make a move, I pick his brain mercilessly. Then, I
decide. Sometimes I go with him, sometimes I go
elsewhere.

A good CFP should understand tax stragety (Roth, 401k, rollovers, 72t issues, etc.) real estate, estates and trusts, various insurance issues within context of your overall situation, and be able to relate modern portfolio vs. dividend discount models to your personal situation.

Never found one eleven years ago and have no plans to look now.

The nice thing about this forum is it gives you what others have done and places to go look.
