Like the magazine cover, I'm setting up a stock market bottom. Contrary play, stocks and fixed income should turn up soon.:)

Awesome.

I don't market time but I'm still smiling anyway when I read stuff like that :)

Each day it tanks I do try to squeeze a few more bucks into my taxable account though. FALL! FALL!

Bottom you say? God I hope not, the cheaper they get the more I can buy. (My apologies to those of you no longer accumulating.)

I do not remember things being this negative for a long, long, long time. Even superbull Cramer was about to slit his wrists tonight. I just read a blog about which bank is going to fail first.
Maybe, the damage has mostly been done. The dollar stock market is not really down much, but if priced in foriegn currency or gold terms it as already crashed. Maybe, the bear (mostly a loss of dollar purchasing power this time around) is coming to an end. Our stocks look awfully cheap to Europeans, Asians, and Arabs right now.

Cramer's predictions are terrible regardless of what the market is doing.

Just the circle of life going on. Sing it with me...The circcccle of stock marketttt lifeeee...

;)That was from me to you. ;)

valuations can change in a flash

texas instruments just cut their revenue projections today

Well, it is time to re-balance my "play money" portfolio. I've dumped the stock screen (small cap value) and bought 4 junior golds. This probably means, that if you're a trader, it's time to short gold big time :(

one of cramer's best friends is negotiating a plea deal with the FBI to avoid jail and is about to lose a lot of money in a divorce. and he might have to register as a sex offender

that probably had something to do with it as well

Did you buy anything?
Don't be rollin those eyes at me :)

Yeah, I bought before dawn this morning but as usual I screwed up (since the funds won't be purchased until the market closes). Should have bought yesterday but silly me, for some reason I thought the Feds were going to wait until the end of the week.

Not to worry. The euphoria seems to be wearing off. You could still get that warm and fuzzy feeling of having correctly timed the market by days end.;)

ROFL!!! Well, with my crystal ball totally out of whack, if I correctly timed the market it will be totally by accident. It's so easy to get caught up in the "gambling fervor" of all this; much more exciting than the quarter slot machines at the casino down on Canal. I can't help but hope! ;)

Aren't we still waiting on DOW 8000 anyways? :dead:

LoL, yeah the euphoria should subside soon...since the markets have to encourage the Fed to lower rates by 75 basis points, right....

Can't you cancel the trades?

:( I am feeling really down today, nobody is going to give me credit for calling the exact bottom? :(

Cash is worth more than credit. So if you were right and this is a stable bottom, increased net worth will be your reward.

I am personally not so sure that we have achieved "The Bottom".

My personal investment accounts made a high water mark end of last October. However, in spite of considerable equity exposure and no shorts or puts, at the close today I am still even after having withdrawn considerable cash for living expenses.

I have never before seen a bottom where I didn't suffer considerable temporary losses getting there, so I am suspicious.

Bacon and Budweiser - if it's good enough for Warren Buffett - it's good enough for me! Hey I'll give you credit for the bottom pick - even if handgrenade wise it bops down from here - what's a few thousand points among forum friends.

Warren may have been early with Kraft and Budweiser - but there is nothing like bacon and beer in a recession/stagflation/bumpy period.

My problem is to SWAG my last est. tax payments so I do have the right amount of mad money.

heh heh heh - still watching ORI also..

With apologies to Sir Mix-A-Lot and as tribute to RockOn....

I like calling bottoms and I cannot lie
You other analysts can't deny
That when the FED walks in with an itty bitty rate
And a stack of TIPS in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that yield was stuffed
Deep in the credit they sharing
I'm hooked and I can't stop swearing
Oh baby, I wanna swap with you
And take your money
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that yield you got makes me so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-yield
You say you want my AAA bond?
Well, I'll use you, use you
'Cause you savin' my liqudity risk
I've got clients callin'
Gonna freeze out from sellin'
'Cause I ain't got liqudity yet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' this bottom ain't the thing
Take the average hedge man and ask him that
They down with a traunch like that
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
You think I called the bottom yet? (Hell yeah!)
