What do you all think of UIT's.

Are they just a way for a broker to guarantee a trade for himself every 12-15 months? Do they add any value to a portfolio?

Must not post...............

As I understand it UIT Unit Investment Trusts are like Closed End Funds or early ETFs, they hold specific stocks and can be traded like a stock. UITs were more common in the UK when I lived there. Not a bad concept but not a good record of execution. We have some serious financial folks on this site that can probably provide more useful insight.

Your first and second sentence are mutually exclusive statements, which are you more concerned with, what we think or if they are a good idea??
