all of the above to a certain degree - they're all out to screw us.

Underpaid, undertrained customer service people who also dont really give a **** about solving problems.

Who are right behind the people who put them into service.

I can't believe "financial advisor" is not on the list. ;)

If you'd have specified health insurance companies, that would have made the top of my list. But I'm OK with most other insurance.

I don't get it.

When you say you hate a profession like lawyers, profession, or politicians do you mean you hate profession itself or hate everyone in it?

If you hate the profession then you're saying our lives would be better with no representation on any legal matters, no doctors to treat us, and some sort of dictatorship or monarchy for a government.

If it's the people then you're hating millions of people with different backgrounds, values, and actions.

I'm not sure which is a more misplaced, pointless source of hatred.

no fair!!!

most politicians are lawyers. I should be able to select both! what a distressing choice :-[

currently i'm hating travel agents.

i got a late quote on a soon-to-sail gay cruise for $2045 for a week in a balcony room. 1/2 price ie at the per person rate. as i'm shopping the price, i came on this board for opinions. also i discussed the issue with friends familiar with cruises. deciding to take the deal, i called the agent within 24 hours to accept the offer.

all of a sudden now there is a single supplement of $350, yet i know of two couples who got the 1/2 price deal with no single supplement. the travel agent lied in his email to me saying that he didn't quote me 1/2 price, but that he was quoting me the per person double rate and that there is a single supplement (which was never mentioned in the original quote). we were not discussing the double rate; we were discussing the 1/2 price rate quoted on his web site.

so i wrote everyone concerned (the travel agent, the organizers, etc) explaining that i am a single gay guy in great health who pretty much has nothing to do but travel over the next 30 years. even if i just spend $3k/year on organized gay events, that's at least $90k i'll be spending in today's dollars. so will they consider getting a cut of that or will they just want their $350 today.

thus far they have not responded to my email. not a problem. as if there's only one gay party in town.

ok....I had to go to politicians.

I know several honest, honourable lawyers. Haven't met any politicians with those qualities.

I cannot understand people who answered this poll by admitting to hatred of a class of people, in this case by profession. I am an attorney, and over the past 30+ years that I have practiced law I have seen many, many honorable people in the profession, and, alas, a few who were dishonorable. I would trust that this is the same in any profession.

To dislike or take issure with a particular action, whether you are the subject of the action or not, I can understand. If you do not believe that the McDonald's coffee spill/burn suit was fair--ok; if you do not believe that insurance companies in the Gulf Coast have been fair with Katrina victims--ok. But to hate a full class of people just for their profession, and for no other reason, speaks very poorly of the person doing the hating. '

Look in the mirror and figure out what that says about you.

Other. I don't hate any of those groups as a whole but I surely get ticked off at sub-groups.

Salespersons who actively pitch products that they know to be seriously detrimental to the well-being of the purchasers. This could be certain 'financial advisers,' tobacco company executives or ad men, some lawyers, some doctors...

Certain politicians are next in line for my ire. The only thing worse than a financially corrupt politician may be an idealistically corrupt politician, like a certain current occupant of the White House. (I recognize that your opinion may vary.)

I had to pick politicians there are a few good ones but none jump to mind.

Which of these could society do without

I've had every single one of these groups help me at one time or another. Sure there is room for improvement, but I'll bet their is with any industry any of is are involved in (or retired from).

If there is a class to hate it should be, drug dealers, pimps, thieves......

Exactly.

I'm none of those professions, and realize there are bad people in all of them, but still couldn't imagine professing a blanket hate for any group of millions like that.

do you seriously think i'm taking i'm taking any of this seriously? just because i am hating travel agents today doesn't mean i will not use them and maybe even like them tomorrow.

however, i did just receive an email from the agent who 1st denied selling me a 1/2 price ticket only now to try agreeing with me that it makes no sense that i should have to pay a single supplement while a couple gets the 1/2 price fare without the extra $350.

how interesting that he's siding with me since i threatened to never again use his service. but not that he's going to do anything to right the wrong. probably he's just a reincarnation from having been a not so terrible member of the even more so hated used-car-salesmen group in a previous life.

The airline companies - no other business in history (that I can think of)
has ever treated its customers with more open contempt.

Here's a good reason to hate lawyers. In Pa. there is such a thing as no-fault divorce. If both parties cannot come to an agreement as to the terms of the divorce, after 2 years, the judge will make all the decisions and the divorce is granted. What this means, is that there is no reason for the attorneys of each party to come to an agreement before the end of the 2 year period. They pretend to be working on behalf of each party, but in reality, they want it to go to the end of the 2 year period, so as to make as much money as possible. And they charge for every letter written, every phone call made, every meeting with the client,
every time they meet with the judge, every time they pick their nose and wipe their butt.
The system has been rigged for the attorneys to make as much money as possible.
Go ahead and blame the state legislature if you want for making this possible, but remember, 99% of them are attorneys.
So, Tio, hatred of attorney's is well founded, whether you like it or not.
It has become a very DISHONORABLE profession.

Killer rabbits.
You know they look all soft and cuddly. They lure you in with those cute eyes and then bam they go for the juggular.

Alligators and/or crocodiles. Have you ever seen those wildlife documentaries where some cute animal is drinking from a mudhole and BAM an alligator/crocodile grabs them. Yuck, I can't stand them!

And those call center folks are pretty frustrating as well.
