I'm giving retirement a trial run. May go back PT in August after youngest leaves for college. I'll be more prone to do so if the market tanks.

DH is winding own business down -- considers it PT at this point.

Guess we're sort of easing in to retirement...

we use a rather unorthodox allocation method

money we will need over the next 6-7 years 100% cd's money markets, short term bonds

7-14 years, 100% laddered treasury bonds, unlisted reit paying 8.5%, bond funds of assorted types. thinking of adding an index linked annuity with guaranteed floors as a kicker to income

15 yrs plus 75% stock funds 25% strategic bond funds, real return funds, commoditiy funds

mathjac107...... So what is your overall AA? It sounds like you carry a high percentage of cash/cash equivalents as a percentage of your total portfolio.

50% Stock Mutual Funds (tax deferred including 401K, Rollover IRA and Roth IRA)

19% Real Estate (land)

ER target no later then 5 years with no pensions.
