it's luck - escaping the big declines in 2000, 2001, 2002 (-9.06%, -12.02%
-22.15%). The S&P actually performed in the 'UP' market.

Okay - you guys are making me to analyze the difference between 99 and 2000.

I did not have any TIPS in 2000 (it was correct the first time)
The reason was up in 2000 was:
Vanguard health care 60.53%
Janus Worldwide 6.72%
V. Index -Total Market 11.39%
STAR 10.96%
Intermediate Bond 12.78%
Short-term bond 9%

It could be luck, but I have my doubt. You timed the market, correct? Either way, excellent results.
