Accessing home value to fund long-term care

Most individuals will need long-term care (LTC) at some point as they get older. This article describes new mechanisms to fund LTC using housing wealth.

Are there new mechanisms or are the authors advocating for the creation of such new products? There is certainly a need for such products.
