Riverpeople - the Pearl River Delta folks have a cookbook put out by Tulane University Press. I stayed on a houseboat Lake Union for a brief period my first year at University of Washington.

There is a section of swamp with a side road dotted with mailboxes and power poles/meters along a Gulf access bayou. Some have homemade houseboats or just a tie up for the 'big boats'.

Normal mode of living down here.

Usually a nice bunch but they tend to go crazy after awhile. Pier-pressure I'd guess.

Thats a pretty nice view off those Lake Union houseboats.
I drive by there each morning and think about how nice it would be to be sitting out on your deck and enjoying the
view. My first years at the UW were in much more modest housing!

Well, it probably beats sleeping in an RV... or your car.

When I was getting paid to sleep in tiny little spaces it didn't seem like such a bad deal. But I'm not sure that my kid would appreciate its advantages!

Hello BUM. "Pier pressure", that's cute.

If you can get beyond the "image thing", all sorts of possibilities open up. We have to maintain a certain
level of style, but within those confines there is a lot
of room for adjustments. Living on a boat like Dory
is appealing for sure. Pretty tough with 4 dogs though.
