Still snowing here, just got a skiff again. The grizzlies are out and wild flowers are just starting, so spring is here.

Have fun!!!

This is probably a stupid knee jerk reaction to babysitting my sister's not-completely-housebroken rescue puppy....

In 2005 I took off for a weekend and my sprinkler system decided to water my family room carpet. I cut it back and let it dry out. Getting back to the puppy .... he decided to find & shred the pad. Then he decided to poop on the recent (2010) living room carpet. Yeah. NOT.MY.DOG. So I made an appointment to have 1 professional cleaned and replacing the other [+ kitchen / laundry room / bath] with wood. I think. They're coming out next week to give estimates. It's only about 1000 sq ft. I've got a week to figure out either:
- oak (already have some of that)
- bamboo
- laminate or is it engineered?? Really clueless
WWYD?
Well ~~~~

I put this out on Yelp: "Plan on getting 2-3 free estimates, no idea if I'm going for wood or bamboo or wood like laminate, need place that sells it to also install it, must accept Visa"

Only 1 place is willing to come here and she suggested something..... lvp. No idea what it is but I told her the rooms / prefer 1 flooring / Cockapoo dog. The others said to send them her measurements. Really? She does the work & you get the benefit:confused:?

LVP is luxury vinyl plank.
Thank you. Is that was pergo was?? Guess it would be better in kitchen / laundry room / bathroom then real wood. Not sure about pergo(?) type flooring in family room.

Its 800 sq feet and would love to get out under 10k

No I believe Pergo was/is a laminate fake wood flooring. The luxury vinyl plank might make a lot of sense for your application.

On any of the hard surfaces, be certain to get lots of video of your baby (the Cockapoo) learning to navigate! Great fun will be had by all until she learns about getting traction. Enjoy!

We've got LVP in our basement at the new townhouse. We did it because that's where the dogs live when we're there. Ours looks like wood, to the extent that we usually have to tell people it isn't. The feel is a bit different, there's a bit of flex to it, but nothing major. DGD rides her trike, the dogs do what old dogs do, I've got my shop down there. It's amazing stuff, and I would recommend it hardily for the OPs purposes.

We used https://shawfloors.com/flooring/vinyl/tile-and-plank

Update, as requested on the Gosund wireless/wifi outlet devices.

Work great - must first train them to your network, then, set how you want them to behave - timer, schedule, name - then you can shift them to a voice control mechanism like Google, or Alexa (I have a Google mini I played with but don't really use) - I use the iPad GoSmart app to program the devices, then the Google Home app to do top level on-off.

Still experimenting with them and their utility.

So as it's just 5.40 + 3 installation ..... asking about counters. Why not replace kitchen counters, 3 floors, family room furniture? I would want 1 place to do all (but furniture .... not going to Macys for construction). I found 1 guy who doesn't try to under cut others, locally owned, very low key which I like. Waiting for him to answer about counters.

Talked myself into upgrading my iPhone 6 to an iPhone 12 Pro. I want to play with the camera.

My 6 only 16GB of memory and is constantly unloading apps to balance memory. Also the 6 won't support iOS 13 and up.

Good move. The camera on the iPhone 12 pro is incredible.

Looks like a blast! Pretty much switched to my iPhone 7 for landscapes instead of dragging out the slr. It would be nice to have a newer phone with a wide angle and a slight tele though.

Do you shoot raw format? It can take your photos to the next level. I think it’s a feature on the newer phones, although there are excellent apps available otherwise.

I'm using an iPhone 7, and it really is time to upgrade. iPhone 12 Mini is what I would probably go for.

Some telephoto on smartphones would be useful, even 50-70 mm equivalent on a 35 mm camera.

Tomorrow, drive to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and stay at an Indian casino for a night to blow some money. This will be our first night in a hotel since the virus thing started, although we did many trips and stayed at my son's apartment, or back to home the same day.

We put vinyl plank downstairs a few years ago. I would have gone with wood, but the house is on a hill and part of downstairs is below level, so moisture theoretically could have been an issue with wood. It's quite durable, cleans up well (we have 4 cats due to yewt living with us, waiting to decide on whether he wants to buy or rent), and looks good. For anything involving water, it would be far preferable to other alternatives, other than maybe tile, I think.

1st place [getting 4 estimates] came out & her 1st thing is to hand me something from Synchrony Financial. That's a non-starter for me. Then the next handout mentions that I remove the old flooring. WTF? Aren't I interviewing 4 companies to do a complete job? No wonder it took me so long to get to this

I like my old 6 Plus; no plans to replace it anytime soon. I guess that I will see what happens as it stops getting iOS upgrades. I have 128 GB of memory which is nice when I want to watch movies or videos on planes. It also has the "old fashioned" earphone jacks so I can use my existing noise cancelling headphones.

We’re renting an RV for 5 days. First time ever for us in an RV.

If we end of hating it, we’ll call it a “cheap” education. If we love it, it we could be in for real trouble, maybe will really have to Blow Dough!

Looks like break even for rent vs buy is about 45 nights on the road a year. We normally do 25 to 50 night yearly in hotels. We’ll see...

Over the past 10 years we've averaged 44 nights a year in our RV. Last year only 7 nights due to Covid, but we hope to bump that number back above 50 providing we can find available camp sites. It's crowded out there...

I bought an "Aeropress" coffee press from Amazon. Just over 30 bucks. You have to start somewhere I guess.
