Yes, load up the shopping cart for $1 per 2 liter. I like diet Coke, and around here the $1 price is long gone. About the best sale lately is approx $1.40-1.50 per 2 liter. Definitely inflation in soda prices.

Ouch.... nabbed by the language police!

Funny as people did interpret it differently.

It was two dozen eggs that I bought, at $1.99 per dozen.

Ah... I get it... $1.99 for each egg would be a bit much.

FWIW I just ordered a couple of pairs of glasses from Zenni. They are running a promo until 11/29: 25% Off ORDERS $80+ 30% Off ORDERS $125+

I saved $45 by stumbling into this offer today.

We put in our first Zenni orders last year. I've been very happy with the glasses especially for the price.

Being pre-diabetic, I've successfully lost 9 lbs now, and I've eliminated all the expensive sweet tooth food stuff, high carb bread, and drastically cut eating out. Also do my own pizza crust now. Preparing my own food has really cut a lot of cost.

Plus, the authentic Chinese restaurant we use to go to also closed 2 weeks ago because the owner retired, and that means less $50 a month for that alone.

Took the grandkids to Jurassic Quest yesterday. The original tickets were regular entry, as we didn't know what "extras" (fossil dig, Dino rides, etc) the grands would want to do. Went to the souvenir shop to purchase upgrade bracelets ($17 each for the grands), the young guy just gave them to me!

(Of course, I spent many times that at the end for souvenirs that the little guys wanted He probably saw that one coming!)

Time for an oil change in my truck. Looked on the dealer site for any coupons. Sure enough, they had a great one. Four visits - oil change, tire rotation and inspection for $200. I called them to see what the price would be for my truck since it takes 8 quarts of oil, thinking I’d have to pay a bit extra. Nope - $200. When in and bought it since I’m not quite due for an oil change. $50 each for an oil change and tire rotation is a pretty good deal. I haven’t got one for under $75 even at a third party garage, let alone, the dealer.

I can't believe I'm saying this (as I remember $15 oil changes - much less when I used to do it myself) but $200/4 sounds great - especially if that is full-syn.

My last full-syn oil change at a QuickieLube was right at $100! I ignore the "return in 3000 miles or 3 months" sticker they installed on the inside corner of the windshield. I won't put 3000 on the car in a year. I'll take a chance and go at least a year or 5K unless the oil looks bad - which it never does. YMMV

According to the owner's manual "Use full synthetic engine oils that meet the dexos1 specification." So while I certainly will have no idea what they actually put in the engine, I would expect the dealer to use whatever the owner's manual states.

I'm more surprised that they didn't charge for extra oil. The last time I had my truck in, they charged me for 3 quarts for being above the 5 quarts included in the standard oil change price. I think they made a mistake, but I asked them and they said no extra. So I took the deal and ran.

Most dealers use bulk oil that is purchased and stored in 500 - 1,000 gallon tanks. Most of today's oils are made to specs that engine manufacturers specify as a requirement.

Diesel engines use oil that is made to dilute the sulfuric acid that builds up from combustion products (sulfuric acid).

The last 2 years I have paid 100 for synthetic oil change for my Corolla and not at the dealer. I only change it once a year as I never drive more than 4K and last year it was 2700.

This started as a “blow that dough” but ended up being a “cheapskate find”.

Dd has been in Antartica. She texted me Saturday and asked if I could change her flight from Sunday to Thanksgiving day. She didn’t say why and I didn’t ask. She traveled by herself this trip.

So I called the airline and I was told $1300+ to change the flight. Dd had told me change it if it was $250 or under. So I tell dh and he’s a softie when it comes to our kids. He asked me “you want your girl home” and I was really emotional (worried about her, missing her, etc) and he said “we’ll pay the difference.

So I tell the agent to proceed. He then says I think I can get you a cheaper ticket but I can’t tell you the difference until I have confirmed it (okay, not sure why, but great)

Turns out with new policies, the change fee was $150 (not $250) and the flight differential $10! So $160 instead of over $1300.

Then at the airport, dd asked if she could pay for an upgrade to premium economy instead of economy and the gate agent gave it to her for free.

So it turned out to be a “cheapskate find” (relatively).

Yep, I have half a dozen vehicles, most free from older relatives who either stopped driving or just stopped.

All but one use synthetic which gets changed once a year.

The exception is old enough I'll probably switch to once a year for it as well.

Wow - $100 seems quite high for that service! I pay a little over $50 to have my synthetic oil changed on my RAV4. You may want to look around. I don't know if you have Midas Car Care where you're at, but that's my usual auto place. Midas will mail you coupons to provide discounts as well.

Today I got the oil changed for my car at the Valvoline oil change station. Only $34 using my $15 off coupon. Yes, it was conventional oil (no synthetic) but it was for a vehicle that only gets about 6,000 miles a year.

I typically have my tires rotated when I change my oil. In Sept I had the oil changed on my truck and it cost $55 at a GMC dealer. A week or so later I had an oil change and tire rotation for our Outback at our local garage in VT and it was $112!

DS had the oil changed on his car at Take5 in Austin and it was about $90. I had the oil changed on the truck again in Sarasota and it was $68 including tire rotation at a local garage.

Yeah, I think it depends on the location. Here in the Islands, everything is expensive. IIRC the quicky place charged maybe $10 just to get rid of the used oil! In any case, when I paid $100, I had just come from a place that would have done it cheaper, but I had to leave the car for 4 hours. Nope. My time is worth more than the savings. YMMV
