Class of 2023

Didn't see a thread so figured I'd start one. I'll be 58. Tentatively marking 5/1/2023 as the date.

Anyone else targeting 2023?

I have been a lurker on this site for years. Finally registered to join this thread. 10/20/2023 and I will be 56.5 which is my MRA (minimum retirement age). I may finish out the year and retire in early 2024 but who knows.

We are planning for August of 2023. I will be 60 and my wife will be 55. That's the earliest date my wife qualifies for her pension, and the earliest age I can withdraw from my IRA without penalties.

We could go scorched earth and technically make 2023 by the skin of our teeth. We're probably more Class of '27 - '29 but one can dream.

We'd have to sell our house and get something mortgage-free with the $130k equity before piling $80k-$85k/year into investments like crazy people. This could get us to $850k+ invested, paid off house, and minimally funded college fund. Barebones is the word that comes to mind. Just wanted to consider joining your club for a few minutes. Best of luck to all!

I'm still looking at 5/1/2023...at age 58. Megacorp experiencing some tough times...so, if things don't turn around, I may be going sooner. Will be comfortably FI in 2022.

our soft target is 2023. We are FI now and have been for awhile, but have no reason to leave the job now (enjoying life now every day even with a job). Will be 62 in 2023 (57 now). Lots of extra comp triggers for us at 62, so might as well hang around for it, as long as life is still fun now. In the meantime, the extra income lets us live more extravagantly than we normally would (travel business class, take more trips, buy more toys).

Excellent! Hard for me to get excited yet...although I did just dowload one of those countdown apps the other day. Right now it says...

4 years, 1 month, 17 days, 7 hours, 54 minutes and 6 seconds...er 5 seconds, err.
