Been investigating buying an iPhone 7 Plus ... easiest way is to just go to Apple ... pretty simple.

Update ....

Spent two hours on chat with Verizon ... first normal rep then specialist. I was unable to make the specialist even understand what had occurred ... which means to me he was purposefully avoiding the issue and simply continuing to restate processes. I wasn't surprised, but copied the 60 exchanges in chat and forwarded to Verizon. No answer.

So, following my usual process of at least TRYING to get even, I continued on the path to buying a phone and finding a data provider.

I finally figured out WHY the Verizon SIM card equipped iPhone had a different part number than the exact same non-Verizon, generic unlocked iPhone ... apparently, it is just the fact that the Verizon phone has a SIM card in it. :) No one could actually tell me this at Apple, however ... weird.

I had been reading up on MVNOs last night ... one that gets rave reviews in called Boom! Boom uses various networks vice just one, as Total Wireless apparently does. It also is a US company with native English speaking phone reps. Rates are pretty close to TW ...

Boom - 5 GB, Verizon system, unlimited call and text in US, $39.99 (oddly, there is no multi-line plan on the Verizon system), supports hotspot on iPhones

Total Wireless - 5 GB, Verizon system, unlimited call and text in US, Canada and Mexico, $35 plus tax (5% discount with autopay), does not support hotspot

As I got into the research, the aggressive and near-criminal (mentioned hundreds of times on line) biz practices of America Movil got my attention ... between this and the Asian call support - think I might pay a bit more and try Boom!.

From 2010 to 2013, Carlos Slim was listed as the richest person in the world. Currently only #7, but he might come back. A pretty sharp guy!

Why not check out the PagePlus MVNO too? I pay about 4 cents/minute average for voice and am on the Verizon network.

I do this by purchasing a 2000 minute/1year card about once/year for I think $80.

p.s. I use a separate phone for mobile data that is more cost effective with another network.

Update ...

Bought the iPhone 7 Plus from Apple ...the model that is generic and functional across all carriers ...both CDMA and GSM. Ordered at 1:30 pm and it was delivered at 10:30 the nex morning.

Called and confirmed details with Boom! ...IMEI number provides them with reference for compatibility. They will not confirm one's phone is compatible without the IMEI number ...not even if the model and part number indicate so.

Ordered the SIM card and the first 30 days online ...39.99 plus one time charge of 6.99 for the SIM card ...5 GB data that can be hot spotted (recall this is something that Total Wireless does not support/allow).

Figured I'd try it and see ...no more than one month at stake :)

Boom at two weeks ...exactly the same as my wife's Verizon ...Verizon shows on the phone ...same very fast speeds with zero gaps so far on a loop through south Florida ...same number of bars, etc.

Will put my account on auto pay and go month to month ...will let you know if anything changes.

T-Mobile in the netherlands right now: 36 Eur a month for unlimited calls and data (4G) across Europe. One year contract.

That's just crazy.

Went to autopay with Boom after finding ZERO difference between my phone access and service and my wife's Verizon access and service.

$39.99 billed each time for the month - 5 GB - taxes included.
