Frugality the new "buzz" word in retirement?

Is 'Frugal Retirement' Our New Buzz Phrase?

Of the tips given in this article, two of which I do not subscribe. They suggest renting an RV, which makes sense if you only use an RV a few weeks a year. We own an RV , a 22 foot trailer which we have parked permanently at a family-owned recreational property near a navigable river and we have kayaks and a john boat which we use often.
So our boat isn't the expensive cabin cruiser type, but we have picnics/pleasure trips often. The suggestion that "boats are things that friends own" seems to me to be encouraging freeloading!
It adds a lot of pleasure to our life and as everything is paid for and we don't have to pay any fees....it is free.

Yea, that article is stretching it a bit. We used to have a boat and an RV - could not tow both at the same time so we pull the RV and rent a boat or we take our friends camping and they bring their boat and sleep in our RV... Sharing never hurts. I also do a lot of the trade labor stuff with retirees and non retirees...

So let me get this straight. Buying a second home in a depressed housing market is crazy? Investing in something when it is priced low isn't frugal? Interesting.

I also enjoyed the frugality for millionaires. Rent you massive RV's, pick up you golf carts on the cheap at thrift stores and borrow your friends yacht. I have my eye on the Bentley that just showed up in the window of my local thrift store.

Oh and who doesn't get excited by lectures at the library? If O knew that the library held lectures, I'd have just taken the teenagers there and saved my breath.
